208 words

Prime time is a phrase used in the broadcasting industry. It refers to the time during which most people are able to watch TV or listen to the radio. In the United States, Japan and many other countries, prime time usually starts around 7 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Prime time has traditionally been reserved for domestic programs because they are broadcast in national languages and the stories appeal to many people.

However, because of the Internet and globalization of the media, people are becoming more and more interested in programs made overseas. Because of this, programs for prime time are changing too. In many countries, some of the programs made overseas are becoming more popular than domestic ones. For years in the United States, various comedies and dramas have been imported from other English speaking countries. These days, even dramas in languages other than English are becoming popular.

This is also happening in Japan. Due to the popularity of foreign movies, Japan has had a long history of broadcasting them during prime time. Moreover, broadcasters have shown Korean dramas during prime time in the past because of their immense popularity with Japanese audiences. This is proof that a good story can bridge language and culture barriers.
