What's S.T.H.S ?

A new high school is to open in Sakai this spring.
It is setting out to foster specialists for the next generation.
This school is Sakai Technology High School.The opening is slated for April of 2005.

Students will select from three courses, consisting of Mechanics, Electrical, and
Environmental-Chemical System course all intended to help foster the advancement
of technology. Each course begins with providing the students with a firm understanding
of the basics of the subject and then advances to make each student a specialist in
their respective field.

Before delving into one of the specialized courses each student during their first
year is required to take a broad selection of general education courses to help them
become a more well-rounded individual. First year students are also required to take
a Career Education class to help them to better understand themselves and to assess
their own aptitude enhancing their chances to achieve their future goals.
In their second year, students select one of the three specialized courses, but this
does not limit their options. There are many optional subjects available for those
who want to go on to college. Second year and third year students can take these
optional courses which are meant to be helpful for their preparations to take college
entrance examinations.Students are also encouraged to challenge and pass certification
exams and qualifying tests in their area of specialization to upgrade their skills.
An Internship Program affords the opportunity to pay a visit to universities and
companies where the students can get first hand experience and learn tips for becoming
a full-fledged member of society.Students are to study most of their subjects in a small
classroom environment.Now let us introduce the courses and divisions.

What kind of specialist is STH aiming at?

1.Specialists who can handle an intermixing of technologies while still having a comprehensive knowledge of their field of expertise.

To foster specialists as mentioned above, S.T.H.S.
will nurture you and train you.

S.T.H.S. will carry on the great tradition of its two predecessors: Sakai High
School of Mechanics, which was founded in 1936, and Sakai Technical High School.
Extra-curricular activities are very important for fostering our students growth
and will remain and important aspect of S.T.H.S. as we develop the specialists of
the next generation.In aiming to foster specialists who have good manners and are
careful about their appearance, S.T.H.S. will adopt a designer-label blazer as our
new school uniform.S.T.H.S. is easily accessible from two stations: JR Mozu Station
and Nankai Sakaihigashi Station.Find your future and fulfill your potential!

Mechanics Course

There are two divisions in the Mechanics Course: the Machine
Technology Division and the Machine Control Division. In the Machine Technology
Division,students learn the art of making things through practicing basic skills such as
lathing, milling and welding.Students also study processing technology and design
technique using computers. In the Machine Control Division, students learn the art of
operating machines through the use of computers. Students also learn how to control
devices of their own making.

Electricity


Electrical Course

There are two divisions in the Electrical Course: the Electrical Engineering Division and
the Electronic Control Division. In the Electrical Engineering Division students learn how
to make the best use of electric energy without damaging the environment.
Students also study the application of electrical technology like inverters that convert
the electricity produced by solar batteries into the electricity for household use, or
electrical transformers used in factories. In the Electronic Control Division
students study the latest computer technology of the Information Age. Students study
the functions of electric items like cellular phones and also study how to design electric
circuits and how to use computers to control machines through robots.

Environmental Chemical System Course

here are two divisions in this course: the Chemical Analysis Technology Division and
the Environmental System Division.The Chemical Analysis Technology Division provides
students the skills to perform material analysis and students study the techniques
to discover the ingredients of various materials. In the Environmental
System Division,students learn about ecologically friendly technologies such as
clean energy,recycling and environmental purification.They also look at
biotechnology focusing on microorganisms.In both these divisions a strong college
preparation is provided for students.
