Message from the Principal
1 April 2017
I am Tadashi Onchi, the Principal of Kitano High School. After having worked as an English teacher in two different public high schools in Osaka for so long, I next worked for Osaka Prefectural Board of Education and Osaka Kyoiku University. Then, I was assigned to be the Principal of Kitano High School on 1st of April, 2017.
Our school, established in 1873, has a long history and tradition, and this year we are celebrating its 145th anniversary. Our students are dedicated to a meaningful school life, which involves learning, taking part in school events, and club activities, and of course respecting the great traditions handed down from the alumni. One of those traditions, “Rikuryo Spirit”, which is expressed in our school anthem, represents the strong spirit cultivated in our school. It is a powerful principle that guides student life.
In recent years, our school was designated as SGH(Super Global High School) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and GLHS(Global Leaders High School) by Osaka Prefectural Board of Education. In order to meet these expectations, our educational focus is on fostering students’ abilities and attitudes which are required for them to become global leaders. We fully expect our students to explore the paths to a better life and society on a global scale, using the comprehensible knowledge and valuable experiences they gain through their school life.
We, all the teachers and staff working for Kitano High School, believe in the full potential of our students. In order to fulfill this potential, we are determined to devote ourselves to teaching, supporting, and mentoring our students as well as developing our professional skills as teachers. On this website, we will post varied information about Kitano High School such as student activities inside and outside of school, and school events open to the community: Rikuryo Festival (in June) and Sports Day (in October).
We appreciate your continued support from the bottom of our hearts.
Tadashi Onchi
