私はこのオーストラリア研修に参加し、たくさんの大切な方々と出会うことができました。オーストラリアの人々は、先生、生徒、ホストファミリーだけでなく、店員さんや通りすがりの人たちも皆フレンドリーで温かく接してくれました。初めは英語での会話に不安がありましたが、すぐにその楽しさを実感し、英語の上手さにこだわらず、現地の人々とたくさん会話を交わすことができました。笑顔で楽しい気持ちを伝えることが大切だと学びました。また、オーストラリアの人々はポジティブな言葉を欠かさず、話していると自然と前向きな気持ちになれました。日常的にポジティブな言葉を使う文化に触れることができ、会話がとても楽しかったです。

今回の研修では、サイクロンの影響で学校に行く機会や観光の機会が減ってしまいました。私は休み時間に友達と話したり遊んだりするのが大好きだったので、休校になってしまったことが非常に残念でした。しかし、50年に一度というサイクロンを経験できたことは貴重な体験でした。家で過ごさなければならない時間を使って、ホストファミリーと積極的に話したり、英語で料理や映画に挑戦したりしました。サイクロンで家にいなければできなかったこともあり、貴重な時間を有意義に過ごすことができました。ニュースでは毎日サイクロンの被害が報道されており、一刻も早い復旧を心から願っています。

研修では、英語に囲まれた生活やオーストラリアの食文化、生活習慣、流行の音楽やテレビ番組、現地の高校生たちの遊びなどを体験できました。これらの体験は、現地でしか味わえない貴重なもので、オーストラリアの雄大な自然や温かい人々と触れ合いながら、自分の視野を広げることができました。特に驚いたのは、オーストラリアの人々が大人も子供も非常にエネルギッシュで、新しいことへの探究心や好奇心を持ち続けていることでした。

また、ホランドパーク高校では、多くの留学生を受け入れており、バディ以外の生徒たちも気さくに話しかけてくれました。さらに、生徒たちの間でLGBTQや戦争、SNSなどのテーマで会議が開かれており、さまざまな文化や個性を積極的に受け入れる姿勢に驚きました。自分から積極的に行動することを楽しんでいる生徒たちの姿を見て、とても刺激を受けました。

この研修を通して、私は海外の文化に対する理解を深めたいという思いが強くなりました。高校生活のうちに英語力を伸ばし、海外の文化を理解する基盤を作ることで、大学進学や就職の際に広い視野を持ち、国際的な環境で活躍できるようになりたいです。自分の英語力を高め、さまざまな文化や価値観を受け入れられるようになり、将来は海外でも活躍できる人材になりたいです。

Summary

I participated in the Australia study program and had the opportunity to meet many important people. The people in Australia, including teachers, students, host families, store clerks, and even passersby, were all friendly and warm. At first, I was worry about speaking in English, but I quickly realized how enjoyable it could be. I learned not to worry about how well I speak English, but instead to have many conversations with locals and communicate my feelings of happiness and joy with a smile. Additionally, the people in Australia are always positive, and talking to them naturally made me feel more optimistic. I was able to experience a culture where positive words are used daily, making the conversations incredibly enjoyable.

During this program, the cyclone impacted my opportunity to go to school and participate in sightseeing activities. I love talking and playing with my friends during breaks, so I was really disappointed when school was closed . However, experiencing a cyclone that occurs once in 50 years turned out to be a rare and valuable experience. Since I had to stay at home, I made the most of that time by actively talking with my host family, cooking in English, and watching movies. There were many things I could do during the cyclone that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. News reported on the damage caused by the cyclone daily, and I sincerely hope that the recovery will happen as soon as possible.

Throughout the program, I had the chance to experience living surrounded by English, Australian food culture, lifestyle habits, popular music, TV shows, and the activities of local high school students. These experiences are ones that can only be gained in Australia. I was able to expand my horizons while interacting with Australia's magnificent nature and warm people. I was particularly surprised at how energetic Australians, both adults and children, are and they keep having curiosity and eagerness to explore new things.

At Holland State Park High School, many international students are welcomed, and students other than my buddy also approached me and started conversations. Furthermore, students held discussions on topics like LGBTQ, war, and social media, and I was impressed by their active acceptance of various cultures and personalities. Watching these students enjoy taking active actions inspired me a lot.

Through this program, my desire to deepen my understanding of foreign cultures has grown stronger. I want to improve my English skills during my high school years and build a foundation for understanding international cultures. This will help me develop a broad perspective when I go to university or start my career, and I want to be able to work in an international environment. By enhancing my English proficiency and becoming someone who can accept various cultures and values, I hope to become a person who can make a difference globally in the future.
