For me, this training program in Australia was my first time abroad. Although I had always wanted to go abroad, I was worried that my first time abroad would not be with my family.
However, by the last day of the program, I was able to spend such wonderful and fulfilling days that I no longer had such fears.
During those days, I noticed some differences between Japan and Australia.
The first is the friendliness of the Australian people. In Australia, even when I go to a store for the first time, the staff will talk to m e and ask me how I am doing. Also, the cafeteria staff, teachers, students, and host family were all very friendly and approachable, and I quickly became friends with them.
Second, the city. Perhaps because Australia has more land than Japan, all the buildings are large and stylish, and there is space between buildings. There is also a lot of nature and it is beautiful.
I also had a valuable experience during this study tour in Australia. It was a cyclone. It was the first time in 50 years that a cyclone hit Brisbane, and my host family had never experienced anything like it. It was sad that public transportation was stopped and schools were closed in preparation for the cyclone, but our host family was cheerful in the house to make sure we had a good time, cooked with us, took us for drives and showed us movies when the rain stopped a little. This made the stay-home period, which was supposed to be hard, enjoyable. I think this was a good experience because this is not something you can often experience living in Brisbane.
In addition, I was able to become familiar with real conversational English by actively talking to various people in Australia, where there are people of many different nationalities. I learned a lot of new ways of using English that I did not know before.
Last but not least, I would like to thank the Momoyin Scholarship Foundation for supporting this program, the teachers who helped me with lessons, the members who went with me, and everyone who was involved in the program in Australia.
