Friday 8th March
Today is cyclone-stay home-day, as yesterday.
It was sometimes fine, sometimes rainy, strange weather.
In the morning, we studied hardy, played video games.
In the afternoon, we went to the park to play sports, choosing a sunny time.
I have two things that I had been interested during the conversation with my host family in dinner time.
So I'll introduce them.
First, the topic of getting a car license.
In Australia, many people use cars when they go somewhere.
So people can get a car license after they are 16 years old. When I compared Australia with Japan, I thought it's too early! My host family said "I'll get my license in no time, so I'll show you my car that I'm going to use in the future!" It was very wild.
Second, during dinner, my host brother poured milk and honey on rice. It took me by surprised. He asked me "Do you want?" I said "...yeah...." I tried eating this, and it was too sweet for me to eat.
My host mother is from China, according to her this is Chinese food culture.
Today, I only stayed home, but I could find a lot of new difference of culture, and was very interesting!!
今日はサイクロンステイホーム2日目。
晴れたり急に雨が降ったりと奇妙な天気でした。
朝はみんなで勉強したり、ゲームしたり、午後は晴れているタイミングを見計らって近所の公園へスポーツをしにいきました。
今日は夕食の時のホストファミリーとの会話で２つ印象に残ったことがあるので、それを中心に紹介しようと思います。
1つ目は、車の免許取得についてです。オーストラリアでは、車社会が進んでいるので、運転免許を16歳という早い年齢から取得できるそうです。ホストブラザーがもうすぐ免許を取得するみたいで、彼の乗る予定の車を見せてもらいました。とてもワイルドな車でした。
2つ目は、ホストブラザーが夕食の時に、ご飯に蜂蜜と牛乳をかけてパクパク食べていたことです。理解が追い付かないまま、『君も要る？』と聞かれ、無意識に『Yes』と言ってしまいました。
食べてみると、意外ととても甘かったです。しかし、美味しくはなかったです。私のホストマザーは中国出身なのですが、どうやら中国の食文化だそうです。
今日はほとんど家に居ただけとはいえ、異文化の差異発見の連続でとても興味深かったです。
