Hello, everybody!
I'm Shikata, a teacher of geography, history and civics.
Say, last Thursday April 14 was
the day for the First Meeting of Toyonaka Senior High School's Global Studies!

Here, I would like to summarize activities of Toyonaka Senior High School's Global Studies.
Impromptu (parliamentary) debates in English are main activities in Toyonaka High School's Global Studies. Importantly, its objective is to help students play active roles globally in the future by including activities that enrich the level of students' culture besides English activities.
The debate session starts in May. Students will tackle new themes every time which are planned to become more difficult gradually.
Of course, we are planning a debate on Islam!
Let me go back on topic.
On April 14, the presentation to all students by Mr. Jodai (the first photo), a teacher of English, and then all teachers introduced themselves.

Also, I and Ms. Okuda, a teacher of social studies introduced ourselves.
Of course in English!
It was a cold-sweat experience. I would like to get more comfortable in such a situation.
And finally, each student's introduction started.
I was amazed that the 10th graders made speeches better than I had expected.

When listening to the presentations of all the students, I thought "I will try harder."
(A 12th grader appeared to be a little more relaxed?)
Each student possesses different level of pronunciation and ability of speech, but the students shared the same passion to "be a good English speaker."
I'm really looking forward to seeing their progress.
We will carry out the activities basically on Tuesdays and Thursdays from now on. (Students may voluntarily participate on the other three days.)
