Super Global Seminar Started!

Hello! I am Moriguchi, a Social Studies teacher.

A Super Global Seminar (SGS) started on May 25 (Sat.). The SGS is for the first and second grade students who want to attend this class. This year 37 students gathered (last year, 21)! The seminar runs in six times, each 120 minutes*. Several lecturers will be invited from each field, delivering lectures on "Expressive Power and Communication Skill Improvement" and "Logical Thinking," the class of which will be held three times, respectively.

The first seminar started on May 25 (Sat.)! The lecturer, Mr. Kashimaga, was invited from the Kyoto Koka Women's College Life Design Department. He made a speech about "Expressive Power and Communication Skill Improvement (1)."

Beginning with his self-introduction, he explained what a presentation is, and then students learned how to make a presentation. They talked among groups about "why my birth month has an advantage" or "No one can compete with me in this point," for example, and then each of the group leaders made a presentation. Usually most students are too embarrassed to make a presentation, but around the end of the lecture they were able to speak with a smile.

The two-hour period went by so fast. I wish the students will value their own thoughts and feelings and state their opinions actively.
