Third Super Global Seminar held!

Hello! I am Moriguchi, a Social Studies teacher.

On June 8 (Sat.) the third Super Global Seminar (SGS) was held. This was the second time lecture on Expressive Power and Communication Skill Improvement. We invited a lecturer Mr. Daisuke Hirose, President of BHF Inc., a company mainly hosting another party after the wedding ceremony. He routinely manages multiple jobs from servicing for guests to acting as a master of ceremonies in such parties. In order for our students to learn the importance of good communications, we invited him and listened to his practices.

After the self-introduction, he talked about what he had thought and what jobs he had gotten so far. Currently he engages in producing second wedding receptions, but he did not study specifically such techniques and just selected the present job because he can speak well in public and communicate with many people. He told our students what is important when speaking in public.

After his lecture, each of our students introduced him/herself for one minute by showing the spell of his/her name in Kanji while thinking what the characters mean. At first they were struggling to find the meaning of their names, but they gradually began to write down their hopes for the future or images they want to live up to their name. Then each of them took a step forward, wrote his/her name and spoke about what he/she thought, without looking at notes.

Finally, Mr. Hirose sent the students his word: "It's better to regret something you have done, than to regret something you haven't done."

I think his lecture will be helpful to students when making a presentation. I hope students keep it in mind and improve their speaking skill.
