"Having an international student as a member of our club" by Molly As you saw on the last post of our club, we had an Australian student named Kathryn as an exchange student at Ikuno High. She was here for about a year since last January. I first met her at the end of August because I was also an international student in New Zealand for about 10 month. Even though I had less time to spend with Kathryn than other Ikuno students, it was really easy to become friends with her because she was a really nice girl
At ESS club, we had several opportunities to hold parties such as Halloween and Christmas. For normal club days, we enjoyed playing games and chatting. It was interesting for me to talk about New Zealand and Australia with Kathryn. I was really happy to have a native English speaking student at school.
At English Cafe, (at Ikuno High, there is an English speaking circle with English teachers at lunch time. It's a great opportunity to speak English for students who are interested in it.) Kathryn and I enjoyed chatting with our teachers almost every day. We talked about so many things that I don't even remember what we talked about.
Outside of the school, I once hung out with Kathryn at USJ. 
There were many people who know that she can speak Japanese at school but not in public. Most people who we met at USJ spoke to her in English which was pretty interesting because her Japanese ability was so great that she could understand most daily conversations in Japanese. By the way, I had more trouble than she did on that day. Because we were speaking in English, I talked to the Japanese staff in English for several times
As you see, I really enjoyed my time with her and I want the school to keep having international students like her so we can exchange our cultures and share them. For me, this is the most enjoyable part of studying foreign languages. Again, it was so nice to have you as part of Ikuno High, Kathryn. I'm looking forward to seeing you again in the near future.
